Every faith has its own dress requirements, so always check with your Travel Director before visiting a sacred site. A safe rule of thumb: dress modestly. Men and women should wear long skirts or trousers and tops covering shoulders and chest. Some sites, like mosques and certain Jewish temples, require hair covering, while Buddhist temples often require visitors to remove their shoes.
Israel is at its best in spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October), with pleasant temperatures averaging around 26°C. Summer (June–August) can reach 32°C, ideal for Tel Aviv’s beaches. Winter (November–March) is cooler, averaging 15°C, with occasional snowfall in Jerusalem.
The Hindu Venkateswara Temple in India attracts 50,000–100,000 pilgrims daily, making it the most-visited religious site globally. Japan’s Sensoji Temple, the oldest Buddhist temple in Tokyo, sees around 30 million visitors a year.
Religious tourism is one of the oldest forms of travel, with pilgrims journeying to sacred sites for millennia. Today, it plays a vital role in protecting and preserving holy sites, cultural treasures, and spiritual traditions, ensuring these experiences endure for generations to come.
